Well, it wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be.  I’ve played my fair share of the Angry Birds games (the Star Wars version, of course) and thank heavens or else I would never have been able to follow the story! :-p  The voice cast and animation is very impressive, but the story itself isn’t very interesting.  I particularly enjoyed Josh Gad as a super-speed bird, though I kept wondering why he was the only one of his species on the island.  Obviously I’m not supposed to be thinking about it that closely.  There are a few legitimate laughs in the movie in between the childish cheap shots.

The story and pacing of the movie is odd.  It takes an entire hour for the pigs to be revealed as the bad guys, which is just inexplicable to me.  The entire first hour of the movie just drags; I can’t even imagine what it would be like for a child with a short attention span.  Once something finally happens, the movie gets a lot more entertaining with some great action scenes.  I have to admit there was a slight thrill at recognizing birds and their attack abilities from the game.  They should just have started the story a lot sooner.
