After The Incredibles, Finding Nemo is my favorite Pixar movie.  It’s just about a perfect movie.  Dory is a solid and satisfying follow up to that classic, only falling short of it by a hair.  The largest complaint I could lodge against it is that they basically copy the structure of the first film, only this time Marlin and Nemo are looking for Dory instead of the other way around.  I would have preferred to see the trio together for more of the movie, questing together.  Oh well.

The first movie was chock full of iconic characters that have become a part of popular culture (particularly if you go to Disney World like I do).  I was relieved to see this movie didn’t conveniently spend all its time revisiting them all, instead creating new and interesting characters I loved.  “GERALD!  OFF!  OFF!  OFF!”  is the new “Mine?  Mine?”.   Hank the octopus was a particularly memorable character, and his Funko Pop likeness now adorns my work cubby.
